Elano goals: to Galatasaray from Manchester City

Elano has completed a move from Manchester City to the Turkish side Galatasaray. The Brazil midfielder had fallen out of favour with the City manager Mark Hughes, though he still scored eight goals in 42 appearances last season.

"Everyone at Manchester City would like to thank Elano for his services and wish him the very best of luck for the future with both his new club and with Brazil," read a statement on Manchester City's official website. The statement made no mention of a fee.

Elano had joined City from Shakhtar Donetsk prior to the 2007-08 season, and quickly became a popular figure among fans after a string of impressive performances. His form tailed off, however, and after replacing Sven-Goran Eriksson as the club's manager, Hughes soon lost patience with the midfielder's inconsistency.

In all Elano scored 18 goals in 80 appearances for City. He remains a regular member of the Brazil squad.
