Sporting has successfully negotiated all the six knockout rounds they have played against Dutch clubs. Sporting have won 10 matches against Dutch outfits and only lost twice.
According to Infostrada Sports, their most recent encounter against a Dutch club was in the semifinals of the 2004/2005 UEFA Cup when they lost the return in Alkmaar 3-2, but progressed to the final thanks to a Miguel Garcia goal in the final minute of the extra time.
